City Palace

One of the stunning samples of architecture in the royal city of Jaipur, the City Palace is a renowned palace complex that includes the Chandra Mahal and the Mubarak Mahal and other fascinating buildings. The foundations of the palace were laid by Maharaja Jai Singh II Kacchawaha Rajput king of Amber in the 18th century. The beautifully caved marble interiors, magnificent pillars, jali or lattice work and inlaid ornamentations make the palace a cherished tourist attraction.
A major part of the 'City Palace' now consists of the 'Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum' and is also the residence of the Jaipur Royal Family.


Hawa Mahal

Hawa Mahal, ‘the Palace of Winds’, is yet another stunning palace in Jaipur that brings the perfect reflection of the grand and amazing architectural wonders. Built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, it’s a unique five storey exterior, akin to the honeycomb of the beehive with its 953 small windows called jharokhas that are decorated with intricate latticework. The royal women of the then period used to watch the market & city life from these jharokhas, and the palace was the coolest place to spend during summers for them. It is made up of red and pink sandstone and is situated on the main thoroughfare in the heart of Jaipur’s business centre.


Amber Fort :
